The Pretty Parasites Tarot guide
Knight of Wands
Mustard Coil

Cassytha filiformis (love vine, devil's twine; Lauraceae), an aerial stem hemiparasite
Cassytha is a yellow-green, threadlike vine — a member of the laurel family that abandoned trees for twine. It coils across shrubs and dune vegetation, testing stems, and sinks haustoria where it lands, photosynthesizing a little but drinking mostly from its hosts. It rides coastlines and scrub across the tropics, covering whole thickets in mustard-gold filaments.
Knights are quests, and quests in the plant kingdom are horizontal. The love vine does not charge; it quests — one long mustard thread riding the shoreline, touching everything, keeping what answers. There is technique in it that the Fool's golden dodder never bothered to learn: the Fool tangles because the world is wonderful, the Knight tangles because tangling, done properly, is a method.
Held together: the opportunity is momentum with craft — you can cover astonishing ground if you are willing to be all contact and no trunk, sampling a hundred stems and committing only where the haustorium bites. The risk is that a quest made entirely of testing never becomes a home: the vine that spans the whole thicket owns none of it, and a life spent riding coastlines can end as a very well-traveled thread with no bush of its own. Quest widely. Then, somewhere, coil.
Scene: a windswept dune thicket laced with gold filament, the vine drawn as a riderless lance laid flat across the scrub.
Prompt: Where are you questing right now — and what would it take for you to stop testing and sink in?
