Privacy policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

Pretty Parasites is operated by Pretty City Press (“Pretty City Press,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the Pretty Parasites website and Android app. It explains what information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • You do not need an account. Without one, readings and journals stay in your browser unless you choose to share them, publish them, contact us, or send content to an AI reader.
  • We do not sell your personal information, show third-party ads, or use third-party analytics trackers.
  • AI readers use outside services. The text you send, along with context needed for the reading, is processed by the enabled AI provider.
  • You have choices. You can download your journal, turn reader memory on or off, stop sharing journal entries, delete public posts, and delete your account.

Using Pretty Parasites without an account

Readings, dream and horoscope journals, Make-a-Guide entries, lesson progress, and other drafts are stored locally in your browser. We cannot read that local browser storage. Clearing your browser data can permanently delete it, and anyone using the same browser profile may be able to reopen it.

Some actions send information to a service even when you are not signed in:

  • AI readings: your message and relevant context go through our server to the enabled AI provider. We do not intentionally save an AI conversation to our database merely because you requested a reading.
  • Birthplace search: the place name you enter is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service to find coordinates and a time zone.
  • Contact and bug reports: the information you choose to submit is stored so we can respond and fix problems.

Accounts and saved information

If you create an account or sign in, Supabase handles authentication and stores information needed to provide the account and sync features:

Information Why it is used
Email address and authentication details To create and secure your account and send sign-in messages
Display name and optional birthday, birth time, and birthplace To personalize your profile and astrology readings
Saved readings, journal entries, dreams, and horoscopes To keep your journal available across devices
Reader memory notes, only when you turn memory on To let a reader refer to earlier conversations
Shared entries, Commons posts and comments, likes, and reports To provide the sharing and community features you choose to use

Reader memory is off by default. When enabled, an AI provider summarizes part of the conversation into a note that is saved to your account. You can review, edit, or erase these notes on the Account page. Turning memory off erases them.

AI providers

Pretty Parasites uses outside AI services to write readings and optional memory notes. Depending on which provider is enabled, your message, recent conversation history, and reading context may be processed by Google Gemini, xAI, Moonshot AI, DeepSeek (directly or through NVIDIA), or OpenAI. Only the selected provider handles a particular request; a conversation is not sent to every provider at once.

These companies process information under their own API terms and privacy policies. Do not include information you would not want an outside service to process, such as passwords, account numbers, other people's private details, or highly sensitive personal information.

Sharing and public content

Sharing is your choice:

  • A journal entry with sharing enabled can be viewed by anyone who has its link. It does not display your email address. You can stop sharing it.
  • Posts and comments in the Commons are public. Your chosen display name, or “A reader” if you have not chosen one, appears with them.
  • Content submitted for editorial review is private until accepted for publication.

Please do not post another person's private information or content you do not have the right to share.

Contact forms and bug reports

When you contact us, we store your message and the name and email address you provide so we can read it and reply. Bug reports may also include the page address, browser and viewport information, the app version, online status, and an optional screenshot. Only attach screenshots you are comfortable sending to us.

Contact messages are kept for support and record-keeping and are deleted on request, subject to any legal obligation to retain them.

Technical information and service providers

Vercel hosts the website, and Supabase provides authentication, database, and private screenshot storage. Like most hosting services, they may process technical request information such as an IP address, device or browser details, and diagnostic logs.

To prevent abuse, our AI and feedback endpoints keep temporary rate-limit counters based on a one-way cryptographic hash of an IP address. The raw IP address is not stored in those counters.

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls intended to limit account data to its owner. Pretty City Press has administrative access to the database and may access account information to provide requested support, protect the service, or comply with law. No online service can promise absolute security.

Your choices and deletion

You can:

  • Download your journal from the Account or Journal page.
  • Clear browser-only information by clearing the site's browser data.
  • Turn reader memory off and erase its notes.
  • Stop sharing journal entries and edit or delete your Commons contributions.
  • Delete your account from the Account page.

Deleting your account removes its profile, saved journal, reader memories, share links, and associated Commons content from the active service. Contact and bug-report messages may remain detached from the deleted account; ask us if you want those removed too. Provider backups may retain deleted information for a limited period.

For a privacy question or deletion request, use our contact form.

Children

Pretty Parasites is a general-audience astrology, tarot, and writing service. It is not specifically directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, please contact us so we can review and delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pretty Parasites changes. We will revise the date at the top and, when a change is significant, provide a more prominent notice. The version published on this page is the current policy.
